Terms of purchase and disclaimer
These terms are printed at the back of the book. First edition, September 2026
These terms apply to The X Algorithm (the book) when you buy it from thexalgorithmbook.com or from Apple Books. Buying the book means you accept them. If you bought the book on Apple Books, Apple's terms also apply to the purchase, the delivery of revisions, and any refund. The current version of these terms is at thexalgorithmbook.com/terms.
1. What you bought
You bought one license to read the book for your own use. You may keep the files on your own devices and read them as often as you like. You may not sell, rent, share, post, or give copies of the book to anyone else. You may not copy the book's text into another product, course, or publication. The book is protected by copyright and belongs to the author.
2. Monthly revisions
The book is revised about once a month. If you bought it at thexalgorithmbook.com, revisions are included in the price for twelve months from the date you buy. When those twelve months end, your copy stays at the last edition published inside them, and you keep it. You may buy a further twelve months of revisions at the price shown on the site at that time. Nothing renews on its own. If you bought the book on Apple Books, Apple delivers each revision for as long as the book is listed there. The author may stop revising the book, or stop selling it, at any time. When that happens, the last edition you received stays yours. No refund is owed because revisions stopped.
3. What can end or delay a revision
Revisions depend on things the author does not control. X must keep its feed code public. X's rules and help pages must stay available. The X API must stay open to the author's tools at a workable price. The author must be able to do the work. If any of those changes, a revision may be late, smaller than usual, or not made at all. A month with no revision is not a breach of these terms. Nothing in the book, on its cover, or on the sales page is a promise that a particular revision will be made.
4. Not affiliated with X
This book is not made, endorsed, sponsored, or reviewed by X Corp. X, X Premium, and the Original Content Rewards Program are names owned by X Corp. They are used in this book only to say what the book is about. X's feed code is quoted from X's public repository under its open-source license, the Apache License, Version 2.0. X's rules are quoted from X's public help pages and legal pages so that they can be explained.
5. No guarantee of results
The book explains how X's published code and rules work. It does not guarantee any result. It does not guarantee that you will get more impressions, more followers, more replies, or any particular number. It does not guarantee that you will qualify for, be accepted into, or be paid by the Original Content Rewards Program. X decides who is admitted. X decides who is paid and how much. People who meet every requirement are still turned down. The results reported in the book come from particular accounts at particular times, and they do not predict yours.
6. Accuracy
Everything in the book is accurate to the best of the author's knowledge on the edition date. X changes its code, rules, and programs without notice. The code X publishes may not match what X is running at any given moment. The book may contain mistakes. The author does not promise that the book is correct, complete, or current. Check X's own pages before acting on anything that matters to you.
7. Not legal, financial, or tax advice
The book describes X's legal terms in plain words. That description is not legal advice, and the author is not a lawyer. Money paid by X's program may be taxable where you live. That is between you and your tax authority. Nothing in the book is investment advice.
8. Your account is your responsibility
You are responsible for what you post and for following X's rules. Following the book's advice can still lead to a label, a limit, or a suspension, because X's systems and X's reviewers make those decisions. The author is not responsible for anything that happens to your account, your reach, or your income.
9. Refunds
If you bought the book on thexalgorithmbook.com: the book is a digital file you can open at once, so the sale is final once you have opened the book online or downloaded a file. If the book will not open at all, write to manager@billgwolcott.com within 14 days of buying and it will be fixed or refunded. If you bought the book on Apple Books: refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms, and the author cannot issue them.
10. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, the author's total liability for anything connected with the book is the price you paid for it. The author is not liable for lost income, lost followers, lost reach, a labeled or suspended account, or any indirect loss. Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows.
11. Email
When you buy the book on thexalgorithmbook.com, you agree to receive an email each time a new edition is published. That email is part of delivering what you bought. You can ask to stop receiving it, and new editions will then wait for you in your account on the site.
12. Age
You must be 18 or older to buy the book.
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may change with a new edition. The terms printed in your current edition, and the terms at thexalgorithmbook.com/terms, are the ones that apply. A change never shortens the twelve months of revisions you were promised when you bought.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law gives you a right you cannot waive to do otherwise. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
